How to Get Notified of New Posts in a Subreddit

Get an alert for every new post in a subreddit, or only the ones that match what you care about, like GPU deals under $500.

Short answer: Reddit's community bell sends you a selection of posts, mostly popular ones, not every new post. To get an alert for each new post in a subreddit, or only the posts that match a rule you write, create a subreddit monitor in AyeWatch.

Set it up

  1. Open Create a monitor → Reddit.
  2. In Monitor, choose Subreddit.
  3. Paste the subreddit link, like https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/.
  4. Optional but useful: in Only alert me about, write the rule, like "GPU deals under $500".
  5. Pick how often to check and click Create monitor.
AyeWatch create monitor form with Reddit Subreddit mode, an r/buildapcsales link and the filter GPU deals under $500
Reddit → Subreddit, with a filter so only matching deals alert.

Each check reads the subreddit sorted by new. With a filter, AI reads every new post and alerts only on the ones that fit. That is the difference between an alert for every post in r/buildapcsales and an alert for the one GPU you want.

What you get

The first check saves the current posts as a starting point, so you are not flooded with old ones. After that, every check that finds something new sends one alert. The headline is the post itself, or "3 new from …" when several land at once, with a link to each post and its text.

Example AyeWatch push notification and alert screen on a phone: 2 new GPU deal posts in r/buildapcsales
The same alert as a push notification and in the AyeWatch app.

Alerts land in your feed and as push in the AyeWatch iOS and Android app. On Pro and Pro+ you can also turn on email, Slack, or a webhook.

FAQ

Can I get notified of every new post in a subreddit?

Yes. Leave Only alert me about empty and every new post alerts. Add a filter if the subreddit is busy.

Does it work for private subreddits?

No. Only public subreddits can be monitored.

Is this better than a subreddit RSS feed?

RSS gives you every post in a reader you have to open. AyeWatch pushes the alert to your phone, email or Slack and can filter by meaning.
