Short answer: Instagram has no keyword alerts. An AyeWatch Instagram Search monitor runs your search on each check, reads the matching reels from the last week, and alerts you to the ones you haven't seen. Use it when the posts you want don't share one hashtag.
Set it up
- Open Create a monitor → Instagram and choose Search.
- Type the words, like
street photography. - Optional: add Only alert me about, like "reels shot in Tokyo". It adds 1 credit a check.
- Pick a schedule and click Create monitor.
Search or Hashtag?
Use Hashtag when people tag what you're after, like a campaign or giveaway tag. Use Search for words in captions, hashtag or not. Search reads reels, and Hashtag reads the hashtag's recent posts. See Instagram hashtag search by date.
What you get
The first check sends up to 5 of the latest posts, or only the ones that match your filter, so you can see what the monitor finds without a flood of old ones. After that, every check that finds something new sends one alert. The headline is the post itself, or "3 new from …" when several land at once, with a link to each post and its text.
Alerts land in your feed and as push in the AyeWatch iOS and Android app. On Pro and Pro+ you can also turn on email, Slack, or a webhook.

Limits
- Search finds reels. For a hashtag's posts, use a Hashtag monitor.
- Instagram decides which reels its search returns, so a popular search won't return every reel.
- Instagram profiles can't be monitored yet.
- Private accounts, Stories and comments aren't read.
