Media Monitoring Software

Track earned coverage on the open web without a five-figure Meltwater seat, and be honest about the press database you will not get.

Newspaper column blocks and a terracotta seal on warm paper

Media monitoring software tracks earned coverage without a five-figure Meltwater seat. That sentence is also a trap. Meltwater is expensive because it sells a press database, print archives, and a workflow PR teams already trained on. AyeWatch does not sell that database.

If your job is "show me every clip in the licensed archive, including the regional daily we are not allowed to scrape," keep Meltwater or Cision. If your job is "tell me when a public article about us went up, and what it said," you can stop paying for a seat you open twice a month.

What earned coverage tracking means here

Who wrote about you, on which public page, with what claim, and how soon you saw it. AyeWatch is topic monitoring plus page monitoring, with a short summary on each hit. It is built for PR people who already know the outlets they care about and still miss the blog that the national desk will quote at 4pm. See media monitoring for PR teams for the desk version of this setup.

It will not count advertising value equivalency. It will not file a clip into a branded PDF binder. It will not guarantee print. Public web pages are the corpus. That is a smaller promise than a Meltwater demo, and it is the true one.

The press database you do not get

Cision and Meltwater sell journalist contacts and outlet lists AyeWatch does not have. Talkwalker sells social and media analytics AyeWatch does not have. If you need those, read a straight Meltwater alternative comparison and stay on the vendor that stores clips. Do not migrate a 40-person comms org onto a $9 tool and expect the archive to follow.

What you can migrate is the "did anyone write about the launch" watch. Describe the product, the embargo date, the claims you expect. Add the CEO if they are doing interviews. Paste the reporter's blog URL if they always post there first.

A stack that still works

Free Preview: six lifetime runs, three topics, Daily or slower, push and in-app. Fine for a founder doing their own PR. Not fine for a team that files clips to a board. Pro is $9 a month, 50 topics, 6-hour. Pro+ is 150 topics, hourly. Paid adds email, Slack, Discord, webhooks, and API, which is how a clip becomes a channel message instead of a forgotten push.

Cadence versus the morning pack

A morning email pack is a ritual. It is also late. If the piece posted at 7pm, your 8am PDF is 13 hours cold. Hourly on Pro+ is the closest AyeWatch gets to "as it happens." It is still not a wire service. Use it anyway if the alternative is hoping someone in sales forwards the link.
