What is worth watching
Your product name and the obvious misspellings. A competitor's launch. A library you maintain. "Show HN" posts in your category. A thread about a CVE in your stack. A topic that says "interesting HN" is a second homepage. You will mute it. Name the product, the stack, or the rival. If you also hire from Who's Hiring, that is a separate topic with a monthly window, not this one. Same for "Show HN" tourism. If you do not ship a consumer app, you do not need every demo of the week.
One thread is the test
Wait until someone posts you or your category. The alert should summarize the claim and link the item. If it does, keep it. If it fires on every "Ask HN," tighten the rule. Then close the tab. The point is a ping you can answer from a phone, not a second reader.
