Brand Mention Alerts

Get a ping when the company name lands in news, a blog, Reddit, or a review thread, then read a short summary instead of a dump of links.

Concentric charcoal rings and terracotta pings on warm paper

Brand mention alerts ping you when your name shows up in news, blogs, Reddit, or a review thread. The failure mode is familiar. You either get 40 emails about job listings, or you get nothing until a reporter asks for comment on a thread you never saw.

A mention is not a marketing win by default. A mention is a page that used your name. Some of those pages are a product roundup you wanted. Some are a one-star review that is about to be quoted. The alert has to tell you which, in a sentence, or you will mute the feed by Friday.

What the ping is for

You set a topic for the company name and the product names people actually type. You add the ugly variants. You tell the monitor what to ignore: careers pages, affiliate coupon blogs, your own press room. AyeWatch reads the public page and writes a short summary of why it matched. Push and in-app are on Free Preview. Email, Slack, Discord, webhooks, and the API wait for a paid plan.

Reddit is where a lot of brands still go blind. A Reddit brand-mention watch belongs next to news, not inside a social listening seat you bought for Instagram. Podcast recaps and show notes are another hole. Pair this with podcast mention monitoring if hosts say your name and never file a transcript you can search.

Why Google Alerts still disappoints

Google Alerts is late, keyword-blind, and allergic to context. It will mail you a press release you wrote. It will skip a blog that paraphrased your CEO. Daily digest mail is a nice way to learn about yesterday. If the mention is a review that is picking up replies, yesterday is the wrong unit of time.

Consumer mention tools have the same itch. They sell volume. You get a badge that says you were mentioned 312 times. You still have to open the ones that can hurt. AyeWatch is built to match the topic you described, then summarize. It will miss licensed social posts that never appear as public web pages. That is a real limit. Buy a social API suite if that is the job.

Write a quiet rule

Start with one topic. Company name in news, blogs, and forums, skip jobs. Add a second for the product. Add a third for a campaign slogan only if you launched this month. Free Preview gives you those three topics and six lifetime runs, Daily or slower. Pro is $9 a month, 50 topics, 6-hour checks. Pro+ is 150 topics, hourly.

When the alert should fire

Fire on a new article, a new thread, or a review that names you and makes a claim. Do not fire on a navigation bar that happens to include your trademark. If the first week is noisy, tighten the description. If the first week is silent, you probably filtered out the places your customers actually talk. Open the summary. If it is wrong, fix the topic. Do not add five more keywords and hope.
