Every monitoring tool in 2026 claims to use AI. Few of them actually deploy AI in a way that changes the output. This checklist cuts through the marketing so you can evaluate any "AI monitoring agent" in under ten minutes.

If you need to monitor one or two specific URLs for any visual change — not for topic relevance — a simpler page-diffing tool (ChangeDetection.io, Distill.io) may be a better fit. Real AI monitoring agents are most valuable when you're monitoring broad topics across many sources, or when the signal-to-noise ratio of raw alerts would be unworkable without semantic filtering.
